Under the patronage of Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), and the supervision of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plants and Animal Disease (Weqqa) , the Saudi Pet & Vet Expo was inaugurated today by Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs at the Ministry of Environment , Water and Agriculture HE /Sulaiman AlKateeb ,along with the Director General of Animal Health Sector at Weqqa , HE/ Dr. Sanad bin Salem Al Harbi and the Director General of Veterinary Health and Control Division at MEWA
Upon the ribbon cutting, HE /Sulaiman AlKateeb made a tour in the different sections of the Exhibition and met the representative of local and global companies. The three- day event brings together pet and vet leaders and exhibitors from different parts of the world.
Dr. AlKateeb said that “we have seen considerable growth rates of the pet markets and supplies in Saudi Arabia. The pet sector is expected to grow significantly and rapidly. MEWA offers unlimited support to this promising sector by attracting and increasing investment to unleash its untapped potential.”
The Director General of Veterinary Health and Control Division at the Ministry stated that MEWA plays a leading role in animal care and welfare and delivers high quality health services for this vital sector. He underscored the importance of the efforts made by the Ministry to monitor animal health and veterinary conditions to ensure that they are safe and disease -free. On education and awareness- building part, the Ministry is fully committed to promoting awareness of infectious diseases and how to handle and contain them.
Over 100 vet local and global leading exhibitors and major industry players animal care, food and accessors will participate in this event that is being held at Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center (RICEC). The exhibition showcases various corners including pet adoption and care, painting on pet house corner and marking World Animal Day on the 4th of October at the Exhibition Hall. Several workshops and short sessions on animal health and welfare. The Expo also highlight the role of Weqqa centre, Saudi Veterinary Medical Society, Rahmah Animal Welfare Association, Saudi Animal Welfare Society (REFQ), Get Along with Me, Riyadh Shelter, karbashapet, Riyadh Cats and Saudi Cats.
For his part, Ammar Al-Zaiter, the CEO of City Events, noted the Saudi Pet & Vet Expo is the first pet exhibition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which will be held annually due to the current and prospective promising market for pet supplies, veterinary medicine, shelter places and other investment potentials in this promising market.

Al-Zaiter pointed out that the exhibition aims to raise the awareness of the private sector of the importance of investing in veterinary medicine and pet supplies. The expo aspires to an interactive annual platform for the exchange of scientific and practical experiences. The Expo will further and advance voluntary work on pet welfare and care. It will launch small and medium investment initiatives in pet and vet medicine. it is the optimal place for major veterinary product exporters and importers to network and organise B2B meetings.

The expo doors open at 4pm until 10 pm. The platinum sponsor is Zolux, a French company incorporated in 1933. Zolux core businesses include pet foods and all types of pet accessories.
