Tchaikovsky’s Masterpiece Eugene Onegin Set to Enchant Audiences at Dubai Opera This February

Dubai Opera is hosting one of the most profound and emotionally powerful operas in the world.

On February 20-21, 2025, audiences will be enthralled by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, a poignant and deeply resonant operatic masterpiece.

Based on Alexander Pushkin’s revered novel-in-verse, Eugene Onegin is a tale of unfulfilled love, pride, and the passage of time. The opera follows Tatyana, a young woman whose heartfelt declaration of love is dismissed by the enigmatic and aloof Eugene Onegin.

As the years pass, Onegin comes to realize the gravity of his mistake, yet fate cruelly denies him redemption. Tchaikovsky’s soul-stirring melodies and richly orchestrated score elevate the narrative, making this opera a deeply immersive and emotionally charged experience.

This breathtaking production will be performed by the acclaimed National Theatre Brno opera, orchestra, and choir, known for their artistic excellence and commitment to operatic brilliance. The stellar cast features internationally celebrated performers, including Dalibor Jenis as Eugene Onegin, Linda Ballová as Tatyana, Peter Berger as Vladimir Lensky, and Václava Krejčí Housková as Olga. Additionally, Hungarian bass Kornél Mikecz, renowned for his commanding stage presence, will take on the role of Zarecký.

The production is helmed by conductor Robert Kružík, with masterful stage direction by Martin Glaser. Set designer Pavel Borák, costume designer Markéta Sládečková, and lighting designer Martin Špetlík work in harmony to bring the opera’s evocative atmosphere to life, ensuring a visually stunning and emotionally profound experience.
